The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (retd.) on Monday promised to clear accumulated pension and gratuity of retired civil servants within the short possible time if elected Governor on Saturday.

Kefas who spoke to journalists in Gembu in continuation of his campaign tour of the state also pledged that his administration will also focus on youth and women empowerment to ensure inclusiveness in governance.

The PDP candidate told journalists that his blueprint which is robust and issue-based is tailored towards moving the State forward for the good of the people.

“First, I will tackle education and make it free and compulsory from primary to Secondary level. I will invest in health care, for only healthy people can contribute well to a healthy and prosperous society.

“Secondly, I will harness the potential in agriculture and its attractiveness to both local and foreign investors.

“I am a retired army officer and I know how I feel any time I received an alert of my pension. It makes me feel that my services to Nigeria are being appreciated. With this in mind, I will make sure I clear the backlog of pension and gratuity to owe to retired civil servants.

“My administration will be youth-focused. Beginning with the cabinet, the youth will be well represented. I will prioritise youth empowerment and provide mentorship programmes for them,” he said.

In the area of security, the retired Lt. Colonel said he will bring his wealth of experience to bear in his approach to security issues, adding that he will carry people along in all his dealings to achieve greater results. ,
